Kyle Samani has been pushing Hot Wheels lately. Rip Cars' founder explains why he started a Hot Wheels project: primary sales of Pokémon and Hot Wheels differ by only ~2x, but their secondary markets differ by hundreds of times. His argument: Pokémon became an investable asset because it has trading infrastructure (grading, price indices, tokenization). Hot Wheels doesn't have that yet, which is why the gap is so wide. So Rip Cars is going after this niche by building that infrastructure themselves. Looking at his older posts, it seems he was originally searching for someone building it, found no one, and decided to do it himself. This could have sounded like pie-in-the-sky talk, but now that Colosseum (which also has real incubation capability) has invested and Kyle Samani is involved, I don't think it's pure fantasy anymore. The vision is there, but Hot Wheels is a completely unfamiliar space, so it won't be easy. TCGs felt approachable because Pokémon and One Piece are familiar. Out of curiosity I checked Hot Wheels YouTube. The most expensive Hot Wheels sold for $175K in 2020. A bald guy offered $70K, the seller refused, and later sold it at auction. The collector base is definitely real. It's still a stage where you're investing in the vision more than current revenue, but the revenue itself is solid. They'll soon be bringing 2,000 items of inventory onchain, and their office is also in progress. they have analytics site https://analytics.ripcars.io/
